    Mission Impossible: Positive Leadership

Do your co-workers view you as a positive leader? Do you wonder how others think about your attitude as a leader? A quick test is to observe the way people react to you when you walk into a room. Are people happy to see you? Do they want to talk to you? Or do they quickly make themselves scarce? If they run when they see you, it's time for a tune-up.

Negativity in organizations is costing US businesses $300 billion/year. It is imperative that leaders establish a culture of positive leadership. As a leader, others look to you to set the tone for your team/organization. Being engaged and committed to a positive culture is a priority for the leader, and also every employee in the organization. Organizations that have a positive leader are more productive, have happier employees and most importantly, happy and satisfied customers.

    Key take aways:

    • Develop strategies for creating a positive culture at work.
    • Discuss ways to increase productivity at work.
    • Learn key strategies to improve interpersonal employee recognition.
    • Learn key strategies to improve communication and trust throughout your organization.

Come join us to learn the real, tangible, and actionable steps to building a better workplace culture, using a proven method for culture change.

Google allegedly uses more contingent/gig workers than FTEs. The gig economy landscape is shifting, and so is the on demand work force. Some are not at all interested in full-time, regular jobs, and are building bona fide professional free-lance careers. Issues related to co-employment and classification may be the simplest matters for employers who seek top talent, especially in their mission critical roles, and may not know how or where to recruit new streams of alt-workers.

Here comes Sean Ring, co-founder of Fulcrum, a San Diego technology startup which aggregates on demand sites for free lancers. His thought leadership is in digital staffing, corporate responsibility and the triple bottom line, technology related to boundary-less talent pools and talent networks. Sean earned a BS in business administration from the University of Colorado, is a LEAD San Diego graduate, and a Certified Contingent Workforce Professional. He wants to stimulate conversation about HR’s impact on future work and workers.

        Creating a Strengths-Based Culture

Research indicates that people who use their strengths every day are six times more likely to be engaged on the job, and teams that focus on strengths have 12.5% greater productivity. With that in mind, this presentation will allow participants to learn more about the value of focusing on their own unique combination of talents to maximize personal effectiveness and performance. By understanding the ways in which each person most naturally thinks, feels, and behaves, you can more easily discover and build upon the areas in which you have the most potential to develop and succeed.

        • Defining a “Strength”
        • Why does it matter? The research
        • Introducing StrengthsFinder – a tool for measuring talent
        • Case studies & practical applications at work and beyond

Erin will provide participants with a basic understanding of Strengths-based development and how this approach can enhance individual, team, and organizational performance.

        Key Take-aways:

        • Learn the value of focusing on strengths vs. weaknesses
        • Begin to identify our own patterns of talent/strength
        • Understand how our unique strengths impact our work and life, and how we can maximize those strengths to achieve our most productive outcomes
