NCHR-SD's theme for 2018 is

"Increasing HR's Influence in a fast-changing world"

This years educational offerings will improve your ability to increase your influence in your organization.

Recap of NCHR-SD's January events.

We had a great speaker at last month’s professional development luncheon by executive coach and speaker Torrian Scott!

Key takeaways were:

Three key ways to promoting your purpose

  1. Clarity: get clear on what you are doing because no one can defeat you at what you’re meant to do
  2. Communicating: effectively sharing your message takes the focus away from the competition
  3. Culturalizing: understand the purpose (or your why”) of your life and if it’s aligned with your work, that’s what makes any company valuable

How you do anything is how you do everything! How does your unsupervised life look like at work?

The 5 Keys of excellence:

  1. Take ownership: take 100% responsibility for your own growth and development. You have to be able to survive the old you to get to the new you.
  2. Inspect what you expect: Accountability is key for your standards, vision, and productivity.
  3. Take your time and be patient: know your schedule and think through the whole process with the end in mind.
  4. Be diligent: be consistently consistent in order to create new habits that dominate in you.
  5. Being a person of character and integrity: your reputation is where people see your character and integrity.

We are excited to continue bringing the HR professionals in San Diego great professional development presentations on HR’s Influence in a fast-changing world for 2018!

Leadership Council  2018 Kickoff

Twenty one members and prospectives members of the NCHRSD Leadership Council, our largest contingent yet, met for breakfast and a robust discussion on January 25 at The Landings. We discussed four questions:

  1. What about the (or any) Leadership Council is most satisfying?
  2. What can the NCHRSD Leadership Council become for you, meaning each of our members?
  3. How can we get there and grow in 2018?  What should we stop, start, continue?
  4. What must we do next?

Janet Mainenti and Judy Enns are meeting in early February to capture the group discussion, and cast it in action plans to move forward for in depth development of HR professionals in leadership roles.
